Cambodia’s children are at a pivotal moment where their educational journey is shaped by both progress and vulnerability. While there has been advancement in basic education and Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), significant disparities remain, especially for vulnerable groups. Children from poor households, ethnic minorities, those with disabilities, and dropouts face considerable challenges in accessing education and ECCD services . These challenges are reflected in lower enrolment and retention rates, which highlight the socio-economic and cultural barriers that these children and their families experience. Limited resources, lack of community support, and inadequate infrastructure further hinder their potential, emphasising the urgent need for targeted interventions
The objectives of the project of enhancing ECCD and basic education (preschool to Grade 9) demand and retention for vulnerable children in Ratanakiri, Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham provinces are to;
I. Increase demand for quality basic education and retention
II. Strengthen family and community engagement to ensure children reach their full potential.
